TITANVOLT LTO BATTERIES SELECTED FOR UK’S GREEN HYDROGEN MEGA-PROJECT

Titanvolt has been selected as sole battery supplier for the £6.5bn HySpeed mega-project.

The UK innovators in next-generation battery technology will provide large-scale battery energy storage systems for the 1GW green hydrogen project.

The announcement follows news that Titanvolt’s advanced LTO (lithium titanate oxide) batteries have been chosen for Wrightbus’s electric and hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet.

“The partnership with the HySpeed project is further validation of Titanvolt’s technology and our vision for a domestically powered green energy future,” said CEO Neill Richardson.

“Being the sole battery supplier for such a significant undertaking allows us to accelerate our investment plans, including the establishment of module and pack assembly lines, and takes us closer to our long-term goal of UK-based cell manufacturing."

Stability and efficiency

The HySpeed project is a strategic partnership between HydraB Power and UK businesses that aims to deliver 1GW of green hydrogen capacity by 2030, create more than 24,000 jobs and cut CO2 emissions by one million tonnes per year.

Titanvolt's battery systems will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and efficiency of the national hydrogen network.

“Titanvolt's involvement in the HySpeed project is not just a commercial opportunity,” added Neill. “It also underlines our commitment to building a resilient, sustainable and domestically powered energy future for the UK.”

Titanvolt is projected to generate approximately 500 highly skilled jobs within the UK, setting a clear precedent for localised workforce and the reshoring of critical industry. This approach means that the economic benefits of the green transition are felt directly within UK communities.
