UK RENEWABLES COMPANY SNAPFAST AND SOUTH KOREAN BATTERY INNOVATOR GRINERGY ANNOUNCE JOINT VENTURE
Titanvolt batteries set to lead the way in next-generation energy storage
Titanvolt’s advanced lithium titanate oxide (LTO) batteries are cleaner, safer and more efficient
Batteries will be manufactured in the UK for European markets
UK renewables company Snapfast and South Korean battery innovator Grinergy today announced a joint venture to manufacture advanced battery technology in the UK.
Titanvolt will transform energy storage with innovative lithium titanate oxide (LTO) batteries that are cleaner, safer, more durable and more efficient than existing technology.
Safety concerns have previously limited the use of battery technology in the built environment. However, Titanvolt’s LTO batteries don’t overheat or catch fire – making them ideal for energy storage systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
The technology is also more robust for heavy-duty applications, while Titanvolt has already secured contracts through the Snapfast customer network to supply LTO battery technology to UK street lighting providers.
Titanvolt is also in advanced discussions with strategic investors and customers, including leading energy companies and heavy-duty powertrain suppliers.
“Titanvolt will address the growing demand for clean, reliable energy storage solutions,” said Titanvolt COO Dan Goodman.
“Our partnership with Grinergy will enable us to manufacture cutting-edge LTO batteries in the UK, create highly skilled jobs and boost the local economy. It will also strengthen the UK’s supply chain, reduce reliance on imports and contribute to the country’s economic growth.”
As well as being non-flammable, Titanvolt batteries maintain function to –35C, charge and discharge up to ten times faster than traditional batteries and are designed to be more than 95% recyclable at end of life. They’re also built to last, with a lifespan of up to 30 years (or 20,000 charge cycles).
Highlighting how Titanvolt will contribute to a circular economy and reduce the environmental impact of battery production and disposal, CEO Neill Richardson said: “The joint venture shows our commitment to leading the UK’s energy transition and creating a sustainable future. By leveraging the strengths of Snapfast and Grinergy, we’re establishing Titanvolt as a global leader in advanced battery technology application.”
Scott Bang, CEO and founder of Grinergy, and Executive Director of Titanvolt added: “This joint venture will accelerate the commercialisation of our LTO battery technology, and provide a safe, clean, reliable and affordable energy solution for a wide range of applications.”
